July 2006: Photos of Coalmont, BC, Canada added (395 KB) - you have to see the Meat Market with the "ghost of the Coalmont Hotel" reflected in the window! More was discovered about an older brother of Alexander Biggart Sayer SMITH: see the little write-up about William Sayer SMITH (a.k.a. William Sawyer SMITH, 1841 - 1919) near the bottom of the page. Also his wife, Georgina Swanson GOW & her brother, James John GOW! More information should be available soon. Automated Genealogy is a great site for searching 1901 & 1911 Census of Canada, as well as viewing the images online. Thank you, volunteers! One surprise was learning that a daughter, Mabel Gladys Evaline, was born 20 Aug 1891 in Hamilton, Ontario to Herbert Joseph & Sarah Mary Evaline GILBERT, but appears to have died between 1897 & 1901.
