The Family Connection to Bannockburn
There is a town named COWIE southeast of Bannockburn, near Cambusbarron.
Old notes tell of a family connection to the property at Bannockburn,
which is now a National Trust for Scotland property:
"My [John Stewart Smith GALL] earliest recollections of my grandmother were of going with her on the steamer up the windings of the Forth to Stirling where she went to see
her Factor (agent to you) & collect her rents. Her property there comprised the historic field of Bannockburn on the edge of which was the village of Cambusbarn (sic) from which the rents were derived. About [1930], at the request of my mother [Margaret Jane GALL, Maiden Surname COWIE], I signed a deed, alienating all my rights as a possible heir, to the field of Bannockburn to some National Institution."
What is the COWIE (or GALL or DUNCAN or other) family connection to these areas?
