1871 - In the Census for Chatham Township, Kent Co., Ontario, Williston is shown as one year old, living with family: LENT, L. M., age 35, born Ontario, Methodist Episcopalian, English origin, farmer, married; Matilda, age 30, born USA; Della, 11; Cora, 9; Newton (sic - is this Milton?), 7; Matilda, 4. His father, Lucas Milton LENT, settled here in 1860.

In the 1871 Agricultural census, the L. M. (Lucas Milton) LENT family is shown as:

4 dwelling houses,
2 barns and stables,
4 cars, waggons & sleds,

1881 - In the Census for Chatham Township, Kent Co., Ontario, William (sic - is this Williston F. W.?) is listed as 12 years old & living with family: L. M. LENT, 45, born Ontario, Presbyterian, German, farmer, married; Cora, 35, born in USA (who this Cora was, & where Matilda Rosina was have yet to be determined); Cora, 19; Milton, 17; Mattie, 15; Letta, 9; Lulilla, 7; Mydra, 5. Some room for error must be allowed in these transcriptions. The Atlas of 1881 lists his father, L. M. LENT, with land in two Kent County Townships - Concession IX, Lot 23, 135 acres in Chatham Twp., (Large Map) as well as Concession III, Lot 2, 50 acres in Camden West Twp. (Large Map).
