"Erected by George Carnegie GILLESPIE in memory of his father
who died 7th April 1864 aged 64 years.
Also of his daughter Janet McKay
who died on the 6th June 1868, aged 2 years 9 months".

Kinnettles:
Means "the head of the bog" (Old Statistical Account, 1790's);
lower part of the village "the bogs";
a small parish to the south-west of Forfar;
no town or village named Kinnettles, but a Kinnettles House;
Douglastown is largest village (but small);
between A94, A929 (now A90) & B9127.
